While AudacityWatch would not normally link to an article by left wing partisan Arianna Huffington, we couldn’t pass up telling readers about the bold frontpage story on the wannabe journalist’s website, HuffingtonPost.com:

I have an idea for how [Vice President Joe Biden] can capitalize on all the attention [being given to a potential troop increase in Afghanistan], and do what generations to come will always be grateful for: resign.

Biden has become the chief White House skeptic on escalating the war in Afghanistan, specifically arguing against Gen. McChrystal’s request for 40,000 more troops to pursue a counterinsurgency strategy there.

It’s been known for a while that Biden has been on the other side of McChrystal’s desire for a big escalation of our forces there — the New York Times reported last month that he has “deep reservations” about it. So if the president does decide to escalate, Biden, for the good of the country, should escalate his willingness to act on those reservations.

If Biden truly believes that what we’re doing in Afghanistan is not in the best interests of our national security… it’s simply not enough to claim retroactive righteousness in his memoirs.

It should be made clear that Huffington is on Biden’s side regarding Afghanistan. They both feel that we should not support General McChrystal’s request for 40,000 more troops. Huffington also goes on to dismiss the various reasons for helping the people in Afghanistan — reasons such as defending the rights of the women and girls there.

In this case, Ariana Huffington proposes an excellent solution, but for the wrong reasons. Biden should resign because he is an embarrassment to his office and our country. Maybe he can take the former junior senator from Illinois with him.
